IBM T42 + Ubuntu 5.04 howto

 |  t42, ubuntu, linux

I just put together a small howto about how I set up my new IBM Thinkpad T42 up with the Ubuntu “Hoary Hedgehog” (5.04) release.

The T42 is a 2373M1G (14”, 1400*1050, 512MB, 80GB, 1,8GHz, 2MB Cache). Given the price tag, I expected a lot - and I’ve not been disappointed. This is a really great notebook, a perfect balance of power and portability.

Linux compatibility is great, too - nearly everything simply works as expected, and what doesn’t can be fixed easily. Being a long time Debian user I’m quite impressed with Ubuntu - nice distro I can recommend to everybody looking for a desktop linux. On the server side I’ll stay with stable sarge, though.
